Tokyo Dageki Dan is a music performers group featuring Japanese drums or “Taiko” founded by HIRANUMA Jin-ichi (Joined “Sadokoku Ondeko-za” in 1980, and a member of “Kodo” from 1981 to 1991) in 1995. It seeks the possibilities of Taiko through new sensitivity not limited to any styles, performing attractive stages of Taiko ensemble.
The field of performance steadily spreads including “Japan’s Taiko” at National Theater, various Taiko festivals, events at nationwide cultural facilities, art appreciation meetings at high schools, and other events as well as Taiko instruction and providing tunes for stage performances such as presently popular entertainment performance show in Japan “The Convoy Show”, “Bugs Under Groove (dance)”, “Theatrical Company EXILE Hana-gumi”, and performing in movies “Kyoki no Sakura”, “Dororo” by Toei, “Nobou-no-shiro” by Toho ,as well as all Japan tour of “EXILE (vocal & dance group).
The group is making a remarkable progress in Japan and also overseas countries including “Close-up of JAPAN ’96 Performance” in Indonesia, France and Africa tour (1998), “FIFA World Cup France Championship Closing Ceremony”, Europe Tour (2000 England/Belgium/Finland/Germany (Hannover EXPO)), “Festival of Japanese Culture in Russia 2003” official opening event, Caribbean tour (2004 Barbados/Cuba/Dominican Republic as a unit “Kotaro”), Southeast Asia Tour (2007 Thailand/Malaysia/Brunei with “Hono-o-daiko”), Shanghai EXPO Japan pavilion live performance (2010), Mexico tour (2012 San Marcos Festival, etc. as a Minyo unit “Kizuna”).
